No, beginning this Friday, July 3rd, visitors from Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, New York & New Jersey can also travel to Maine without the quarantine or negative COVID test requirement. Like a local, you will still need to observe social distancing from those not in your party.
No, the State of Maine allows all visitors starting June 26 to participate in the Maine Quarantine while staying at a hotel. While on your stay with us you are free to enjoy the outdoors for a variety of activities such as walking, hiking, and biking including in Acadia National Park and surrounding areas. The Maine Quarantine applies to any visit between 1 and 14 days. You will need to observe social distancing from those not in your party.
When checking into your hotel, you will be asked to fill out a simple one-page Certificate of Compliance requiring you to check off a handful of boxes asking basic questions such as your past exposure to the virus, if you plan to quarantine (as described above), if you have tested negative for the virus, etc. You then simply sign this form and we will keep on file. You will need to observe social distancing from those not in your party.
No, you are not required to take a test to vacation in Maine, this is simply one of two paths to visit that are available to you. If you have tested negative within 72 hours of your visit that’s great news! If so, you simply check off on the Certificate of Compliance that you have tested negative and you are free to enjoy your vacation as if you were a true local. We will not be asking any guests to provide their test results. The test requirement for this path to visit does not apply to children, only adults 18 years or older. You will need to observe social distancing from those not in your party.
More and more activities are opening up every week. Currently there are wonderful boat tours available such as a schooner sail on the Margaret Todd and nature cruises with Acadia Wildlife Tours. Also open are our local town parks, the Shore Path, and mini-golf to name a few. As shared, Acadia National Park is open for your enjoyment though the Visitor’s Center is not accessible to folks participating in the Maine Quarantine, but we are more than happy to provide you with all the information you could possibly need to enjoy the park!
Most all restaurants in Bar Harbor are offering take-out dining, and the list of options is growing weekly. Please note that our local restaurants each have their own protocols for dining safely that should offer you other great dining options.
We simply ask that you wear a mask of your choice while walking the interior public areas of the hotel. Once in your room, sitting at a dining table, or outside you are free to remove your mask. We appreciate your cooperation and do have masks available!
Keeping both our guests and staff safe and healthy are our top priority. All our staff have their temperatures checked at the start of every shift, and all staff are trained on proper hand washing procedures and are doing so with increased frequency. Our cleaning protocols throughout the hotel have been increased to consistently clean the high touch areas of the hotel, disinfecting and sanitizing on a regular basis. Plexiglass shields are in place at the front desk and other key areas to protect both the guest and the staff in conversation. All guests are expected to wear a mask in public areas within the hotel and throughout your stay you will see all our staff wearing a mask throughout their interactions with you. Hand sanitizer is available throughout the property for everyone’s use when hand washing is not readily available. Trust many of our new protocols go above and beyond the CDC guidelines.
We will be happy to assist you in rescheduling your Maine vacation, in many cases we can even keep your nightly rate the same! We do very much appreciate your understanding and flexibility.
